3. Doors must be sealed on all six sides including the bottom. So, if you want a great looking door all the time, put it in your mind to have the door refinished every two or three years. Understand this is just regular maintenance, like mowing the grass.

The procedures to renew a door are: 1. Sand old finish off door with 170 grid sand paper. 2. Re-stain door when necessary 3. Clean door with cloth and mineral spirits. 4. Coat door with high quality polyurethane 5. If 2 coats are necessary, repeat steps 1,3 & 4 The cost to refinish most doors is $250 to $400.
