With 18 years of experience, I have become the expert on how to care for decks, fences, flagstone, and pebble stone. My expertise is cleaning and sealing exterior surfaces and exterior and interior painting.
There is a high probability that nature, consisting of dirt, mold and mildew have spread a layer of ugly on everything in the backyard.
Let's clean the mess up! Let's start with the pebble stone patio! First, acid wash the surface using muratic acid diluted with four gallons of water to one gallon of acid. Using a pump-up sprayer, apply an even coat to the surface. This will break down the calcium and soften the dirt.
Second, using a pressure washer, clean the entire surface.
Third, after washing the acid solution off, spray the surface with Clorox diluted with one gallon of Clorox to one gallon of water. The Clorox will kill deep mold spores and oxygenate the surface. Now you know why pools are so clean!
At this point your pebble stone finish is cleaner than new and now is a great time to soak it. After washing, let the surface dry for 48 hours. Seal the pebble stone with a clear acrylic in a solvent base.
Now the patio is clean and the sealer will enhance the rock color to a permanent wet look. This process can be repeated on flagstone and concrete.
